Blizzard has confirmed to MTV Multiplayer that "Diablo 3" art director Brian Morrisroe has decided to leave the company. A company rep says his departure won’t change the look of the game.
Here’s what a Blizzard representative told Multiplayer via e-mail…

Secret Cow Level To Return in Diablo 3

Tracey John, MTV Multiplayer journalist informed us of his recent interview with Diablo 3 Lead Designer Jay Wilson which focused mostly into discussing the new and revamped Secret Cow Level in Diablo 3.
No deep details were revealed, but from the little taste out of Jay Wilson’s responses you can tell the Secret Cow Level is coming back but in a different way. He even criticizes the bad things about the cow level in Diablo II, and how they will be tinkering to improve it. It would be useful, but it won’t replace core content by farming your levels there rather than through the game itself. There may be a few innovations and surprises to the new version of the Cow Level. Read the interview.

Diablo 3 Trade and Economy

July 24, 2008 · Filed Under Diablo gold, Diablo3 NEWS, cheap Diablo3 gold · Comment

An interesting conversation about Diablo III BOE item exchange and currency took place today between fans and the Diablo III Community Manager Bashiok. Here is hoping Blizzard comes up with good ideas to make trade successful in this new game.

Quote:
Azrabaine @ Maelstrom: Everyone seems to be worried Blizzard won’t give us a currency or that they’ll make sure there isn’t any trading with BoE/BoP.

What’s the problem with the way Diablo II did it? I’m not just saying my opinion, I’m asking the question: what were the problems with Diablo II’s player-run economy and what do you want Blizzard to do?

So in my opinion, I like the idea of a player-run system. It seems much more fun to me. Sure, having a set currency like in WoW is simple, but I feel like it sucks the fun out of bartering (which is a reason I loved Diablo II). In WoW you can simply have a lot of gold but in Diablo II you can be your own self-sufficient merchant, peddling your wares across the Diablo world. I remember getting a +1 Summoning Skill Level charm and trading it up to three Ist runes and a Ber. Fun! With a set currency I’m afraid trading isn’t going to exist like this and it will merely be a matter of picking the future cow level clean of items and then buying something off of someone

Quote:
Bashiok: One of the largest issues with a bartering system is that it prevents any ease of entry into the system for players. I have an item and I think it’s probably worth something, but I have no idea what its worth and no easy way to find out. You have an item I want, but I have no idea what you may want for it or if I’m going to get a fair trade for it. You may throw a bunch of acronyms at me, get frustrated I don’t know what I’m doing, and then leave. That’s not going to be a positive experience for either of us, and neither of us get what we want out of it. With a stable economy and currency, there’s at least a common language that anyone can understand regardless of their game knowledge.
Quote:
Cheque @ Dethecus: So, can you speak on whether gold going to be worth something in Diablo 3, or if the developers are planning to continue the item-based currency method?
Quote:
Bashiok: We want gold to be worth something in Diablo III, yes.
Quote:
branderic @ USWest: How would you react if D3 had item binding?
Quote:
Bashiok: Diablo is a trading game, and we have no plans to change that. We don’t have any inclination to make items bind to a character, or otherwise remove trading opportunities.

Will there be absolutely no items that will be bound to a character? It isn’t possible to say with any certainty at this point, there might be.

Blizzard Comments On The Classes In Diablo 3

July 24, 2008 · Filed Under Diablo3 NEWS · Comment

Blizzard poster Bashiok has commented on the Battle.net forums about the game’s five classes, emphasizing on their diversity and uniqueness as characters, unlike those of many other games.

Quote:
Yeah, I think you guys hit the nail.

We’re setting out to create unique, interesting, and diverse classes that each have their own style and flavor. Most importantly this isn’t just a basic look at each individual class, but how they compare to each other and overlap (or hopefully, don’t).

When you up the number of classes more and more you’re eventually going to begin down the route of homogenization, they start to bleed into each other’s core abilities and styles which really just detracts from each individual class’ recognizability and distinction within the game.

In addition, by limiting the number - and I say limiting not because it’s a low number, it’s the number of classes in Diablo II and a good one at that, but because we’re not going crazy with it - we can focus on making each class really impressive, both visually and through the way they each feel and play.

Can you give an overview of Diablo 3 storyline?

Can you give an overview of Diablo 3 storyline?

It has been twenty years since the events of Diablo 2. Of those who faced the Lords of Hatred, Terror, and Destruction in the battle over the fate of Sanctuary, there are few still living who can bear to remember the horrors that the Prime Evils wrought upon the world. And of those who did not witness the terrible events firsthand, most believe the stories to be little more than myth. But something evil is stirring once again in Tristram, and it may already have claimed its first victim: Deckard Cain.
